PRODUCERS OF FRUIT PRESERVES

It all started naturally for the Henderson family almost 30 years ago.  Everything was already part of the traditions: the fruit culture came first on the family farm located on Wolfe Island, a small island accessible by ferry from Kingston, in Ontario.  Then came the jams, jellies and marmalades made with the surplus fruit.  The rest is history; the preserves, made according to Mother’s recipes in small batches, were so appreciated by consumers that it paved the road to the success Henderson Farms knows today in Ontario and Quebec.

Over the years Henderson Farms has consistently won prizes and kudos from the epicurean milieu, and has even been named Grand Champion Jam and Jelly Maker by the judges of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.  A great honour!

THE FARM

One could not find a more peaceful place than the Henderson’s family farm at the south-east point of Wolfe Island. All the necessary conditions are present to ensure proper ripening of the fruit used in the Henderson Farms product line. The secret is in the quality of the ingredients, which for the most part grow on their farm.  And there is also the meticulous hand picking, the knowledge shared between generations, the research in combining flavours that enhance one another, the use of stainless steel kitchen tools, the proper sterilization techniques and sustained state of the art methods of home-made cuisine.

But, the proof is in the pudding, and it is no wonder that all it took was one tasting session from Pellicanò to decide to bring these typical Canadian flavours to our French clientele.
